Chartres › Maison Picassiette

Maison Picassiette

An extraordinary house covered entirely in intricate mosaics made from broken crockery.

Created by Raymond Isidore over the course of nearly 30 years (between 1930 and 1962), the Maison Picassiette is a unique example of naive art. Isidore used roughly 15 tons of broken porcelain, china, and glass shards to cover every surface of his home, furniture, and garden walls with vibrant mosaic patterns.
